Wine Tasting Workshop - How to Taste Wine ($45)

July 12, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Dilek Caner Master of Wine, and WSET Level 3 Graduates Tony Ruiz, Heather Blackwell, Will Fox and Kelsey Soule for a very hands-on workshop on how to taste wine.

You don't need to have a prior knowledge of wine, just a strong interest to learn.

Following Dilek's 20 minute presentation on how to taste wine, you'll be seated in a group of learners lead by one of the group leaders, and practice what you've learned by tasting and analyzing 4 wines, in a relaxed, fun and interactive session. Your group leader will answer your questions and guide you in your learning. Dilek will be on the floor, visiting with each table.

At the end of the tasting, you can stay at Blind Bishop, order a few bites and practice your newly acquired skills on additional wines.

This is also a great opportunity to meet like-minded people with a serious interest in wine, talk to experienced wine students and find out about various paths to learn about wine, and ask your questions to the only Master of Wine in Texas.

You can register by completing the form at the bottom of this page.

"I got into wine when I was young, and I was surprised at the many different styles made all over the world. I used to think it was only made in California.
Studying wine has been a game-changer for me in so many ways I never expected.
One of the best parts is having these fun blind tastings with friends. It's a blast trying to guess the wines and sharing our thoughts.
Meeting other wine students is the other great benefit to it. It all leads to exploring and sharing more fun and interesting wines that one would rarely get to taste alone."

"I was first drawn to wine through my love of food and cooking. I soon caught the wine bug and was hooked! After many years of tasting and studying wine casually, I started the WSET program and I recently achieved my Level 3 certification. I love learning about wine because there’s so much to learn, from history, geography, chemistry, agriculture, climate, language, food, culture, and so much more. And most of all, I love tasting wine. There is always something new to taste and so many styles of wine to explore. Learning the WSET approach to wine tasting has made me so much more confident with tasting and understanding wine!"

Will has finished WSET Level 3 Wines Exam with Distinction and has been helping the new generation of the Level 3 students. His interest in blind tasting and his detailed approach to studying wine is a great asset when explaining how to taste wine to others.

Kelsey began her wine journey taking classes at the Cork Wine Bar when she moved to Dallas 7 years ago. Oregon Pinot Noir was the "gateway" to furthering her interest in learning more about wine, paired with her love of travel and trying wine in new places. She was then introduced to Dilek and the Dallas Wine Center, where she completed WSET 1, 2 and 3 within about 18 months. To Kelsey, the best thing about tasting wine is that it is a constant debate, and you can never run out of wines to taste. She loves finding moderately priced wines and making wine tasting more approachable for her friends. She could never pick a favorite wine, but her failsafe is Brunello di Montalcino.
