Blind Tasting Group - Reds with laterals

November 5, 2023

This time we are tasting 6 reds and we'll give you clues in the questions.

When you get a wine wrong, one of the best exercises is to go and taste the wine you confused it with. For example, say you've tasted a Cabernet Franc but identified it as a Left Bank Bordeaux. A great way to learn from your mistake is to get a glass of both wines and compare them side-by-side.

For you to be able to do that, we have also put some laterals (wines that can be confused with the wines in the blind tasting) on our WineStations. Once you arrive, we'll give you a Tasting Card with some credit in it so that you can go taste the laterals as well.

Sarah and I (Dilek) will be there to discuss the wines with you as well as other people from our blind tasting group depending on the time you come in. You can choose to come in for the 3:30pm or 5:00pm slots.

We kept the cost of the 6 reds around the average of what it comes down to at our Tuesday tastings and priced the 6 wines at $28 per person, very close to our cost. We'd appreciate it if you come in with your own 6 glasses as always.

Here are the questions for the 6 wines we will taste on Sunday, Nov 5th:

Wines #1 to #4: You will have two pairs of red wines and your task will be to identify the grape variety in each pair.

Wines #5 & #6: You will be given two wines from two different countries and will be asked to identify each wine's origin or grape varieties.

Please RSVP below so that we can have your tasting card ready for you. If you already have a tasting card, bring it and we will add to it.

Let us know if you have any questions.
